PTS Wins 11 Nominations in 2013 Asian Television Awards

Asian Television Awards (ATA) has been one of the most prestigious annual TV industry events in Asia. Celebrating its 18th anniversary this year, a total of 238 entries spanning 12 countries have been qualified to compete for the glory of the Awards. The finalists for 2013 ATA were announced on November 13th. Public Television Service (PTS) receives 11 nominations this year, and Hakka Television Service, another television station also under Taiwan Broadcasting System, wins 7 nominations in total.

Among the 11 nominations PTS receives this year, the two programs Falling (含苞欲墜的每一天) and Go, Hula! (呼拉姐妹花) are the biggest winners, each with three nominations. Falling receives the nominations of Best Direction (Ming-Tai Wang 王明台), Best Actress in a Leading Role (Jade Chou 周幼婷) and Best Original Screenplay (Yu-Fang Wen 溫郁芳), while Go, Hula! is nominated in the categories of Best Single Drama or Telemovie, Best Actress in a Leading Role (Wen-Lin Fang 方文琳) and Best Original Screenplay (Wen-Hsi Lan 藍文希). Other nominated programs include The Little Dog Savior (牠們是我兄弟姐妹) in the category of Best Children’s Program, Paper Bag Boy (紙袋男孩) in Best Preschool Program, A Rolling Stone (築巢人) in Best Direction (Ko-Shang Shen 沈可尚), Melody (腳趾上的星光) in Best 2D Animated Program, and Shackled (閉鎖鏈) in Best Cinematography (Sheng-Siang Fan 范勝翔).

For Hakka Television Service, the program Are You Christine? (交錯) receives three nominations in categories including Best Single Drama or Telemovie, Best Direction (Shi-Yu Ma 馬西宇) and Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Ya Chi Hsu 許亞琦). Other nominated programs are Katang Kids (喀噠大作戰)(Best Single Drama or Telemovie), A Place in the Sun (日光天堂)(Best Actor in a Leading Role: Morni Chang 張晨光), One More Take (竹田車站)(Best Direction: Heng Ju Chang 張亨如), and Breaking Ice (零下四十度的思念)(Best Children’s Program; co-production with PTS and Taiwan Indigenous Television).

The Awards comprise over 30 categories and are determined by an expert panel of over 50 judges from across the Asian region. With great support of major industry professionals throughout the region, ATA represents the industry’s top recognition and attracts a multitude of entries every year from a wide range of broadcasters in Asia.

The winners of the Awards will be announced at the awards/gala ceremony at Compass Ballroom, Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore on the night of December 5th, 2013.
